Hello there reader, this blog is a separate blog from my usual travel and inspirational vlogs. This one is all about pop culture, from movies, tv shows, books, and video games.

Right now this is where I’ll be sharing my feelings about the recent released Star Wars movie which came out on December 15,2017. If you have yet to see this film, I would leave this review/opinion and go watch it. If you’re not a Star Wars fan or you’re just not going to watch it, than proceed with this article.

But before we do so, if you don’t know what Star Wars is, (if you’ve at least heard of Star Wars and you don’t like that type of genre or types of films, still give yourself a good old pat on the back)

Star Wars first premiered on May 25th, 1977 to the world. Stars Wars is an epic space opera from the mind of George Lucas. There are a total of 8 Star Wars Episodes, and one Spin off/Prequel.

Star Wars: The Original Trilogy (1977-1983)

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (May 25th, 1977)

A New Hope was the first Star Wars film in the Star Wars film franchise. It was actually the fourth one in the franchise. George Lucas has started in the middle of Star Wars, with Episode 4. It was strange, but made sense as the prequel trilogy (Episode 1,2, and 3)was not the best. But A New Hope was a special effects landmark for the time.  Okay so here’s the over plot line of Episode 4.

Luke Skywalker, a young farm boy always dreams of becoming something more than just a farm boy, he wants to be fighter pilot to help stop the rule of the Empire. A group of people from the rebel alliance have stolen the planes of the biggest space stations ever, the Death Star. Princess Leia is held on the Death Star and Luke, and Han Solo have to rescue her.

Star Wars: Episode V:The Empire Strikes Back (May 21st, 1980)

P103

In 1980, the sequel to A New Hope had come out, called “The Empire Strikes Back” This time, we see our heroes, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca on the planet of Hoth, before being invaded by Imperial Forces. After Luke escapes from the Imperial Forces, he decides to travel to Dagobah in order to find the legendary master Jedi (beside Obi-Wan Kenobi) Yodia. Han and Leia escape the attack in the Millennium Falcon (the greatest space ship ever, just saying) and Luke is trained with the force to help him keep darkside at bay and face the ultimate villian of the galaxy, Darth Vador.

Star Wars; Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

In the sixth and final installment of the orignial trilogy, Luke, Han, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca are back for more battle against the Empire, this time, Luke most do battle with Jabba the hut, and as well as Darth Vador (once again) to save his friends from the Empire, and during this daring adventure and mission, Han and Leia restart their love and they will team up with Han’s co pilot and friend, Chewbacca as well as C-3PO,the loveable R2-D2, Calrissian, and the little creatures known as Ewoks to take down and defeat the Empire once and for all.

I’m so sorry, these are not the best of the Stat Wars Saga, and no I’m not saying they are bad, but they ruined the movie by explaining where the force came from “midi-chlorians “, which for us Star Wars fans, that just ruined the magic of the force. And the other thing about this prequels is, we didn’t need a Darth Vador backstory or origin story. I believe it was mentioned and told in the original trilogy. And Hayden Christensen was not the best choice for Anakin Skywalker.

Sebastian Stan I can see as Luke Skywalker. He looks like Mark Hamil;, so it makes sense that if they ever made a origin story or another spin off Star Wars film (Rogue One was awesome and still waiting for Solo: A Star Wars Story this May).

But the prequel series was not the best. But Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor I would not mind coming back for more adventures in a galaxy far far away. Though Liam Neeson’s character couldn’t really come back because Darth Maul killed him with a lightsaber, so there’s that.

Star Wars: The New Trilogy                     (2015-Present)

Star Wars Episode VII:The Force Awakens (December 18th,2015)

The Star Wars Franchise had lied dormant for over a decade before the reins were handed over to sci-fi filmmaker J.J. Abrams (known for the Star Trek reboot series from 2009-Present) and my favorite Super 8. In this sequel to Revenge of the Sith, we are introduced to new characters as well as old favorites. New characters include, Ray, Poe, Finn and B.B.8. Old and favorite characters, Luke, Han (spoiler he dies from the hands well the saber of the new villain Kylo Ren and Han turns out to be his father) as well as Leia and Chewbacca. This film fallows Rey, Finn, and Poe as they are thrown into battle with the new arising foe, Kylo Renm who is the new Darth Vador. This in some ways starts a new story for a new generation as well as brings back classic beloved characters.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story    (December 10th, 2016)

Rogue One

Rogue One is the first spin off (another prequel to Star Wars, but way better). Rogue One takes place before the events of A New Hope. In the beginning of the film, a scientist, and who’s also an engineer who is taken away from his family by the empire in order to build the world’s deadliest space ship, the Death Star. Years later, the Rebel Alliance are tasked with stealing the plans to the Death Star in order to win the battle against the Empire.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (December 15th, 2017)

the-last-jedi-theatrical-poster-film-page_bca06283

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the latest film in the new trilogy. This one is directed by Rian Johnson and is the sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This film is the longest in Star Wars, and it runs at about 2 hours and 35 minutes, and it is totally worth it. And when you watch it, it doesn’t feel like it is that long. In this film, we start where The Force Awakens ends, with Rey on the island where Luke has called home for so many years. She’s still trying to learn the way of the force, and wanting Luke to teach her the way of the force. While Poe and Finn are still dealing with the rathe of chaos of Kylo Ren and the Empire.

So after explaining what The Star Wars films are, and what they in tail, here’s my view and opinion of The Last Jedi. I loved it, no doubt. So much action and very stunning special effects.. (Below)

I’ve never seen that in any of the Star Wars films, or any film for that matter (sorry Matrix)..

But somewhat towards the end, Luke finally faces Kylo Ren. Even though it was going to be a battle for the ages (in a way it was and pretty awesome too) but Luke was a hollow gram through the entire battle. And when he’s done, he just turns him into ashes. (In a way it kinda makes some sense, because the force could be or can be so powerful it literally turns you into ashes) but it wasn’t the best way for him to go out.

But over all I really enjoyed the film.

Though after the release of it, there are a lot of fans trying to get a petition signed to get The Last Jedi removed from the official canon of the franchise because they didn’t like a lot of it. Which is just stupid. It’s just a movie, and I am a fan as much as the next guy, but really. If you’re going to have a petition, get it to get the prequels (not Rogue One, but episodes 1,2,3)..

The Star Wars universe has been expanded into television shows, books, video games, and they even have a comic con style event for just Star Wars.

But luckily the guy who had started the petition realized his mistake, and he had decided to turn it around and have people donate money to a charity.

(I’m not sponsored by Star Wars or Disney, this is just my own opinion on the franchise and this is an article (as I like to call it instead of a vlog/blog) on Star Wars)…

If you liked this, then stay tuned as I tap and write about HBO’s popular series Game of Thrones.
